Community is an important Quaker value. At Multnomah Meeting, everyone is an important part of creating our caring community. We value newcomers at Multnomah Meeting and we are grateful that you have chosen to worship with us. We want to invite those new to Multnomah Meeting to share a meal on Saturday, April 16 from 12-2PM. This is an opportunity to build relationships and to have questions answered. Friends, please extend this invitation to others and bring them with you to this fun afternoon of fellowship and food. Childcare available. For more information, contact Eddy Crouch, Clerk of the Committee on Oversight. eddy@eddycrouch.com 503-282-2483
SUNDAY, MARCH 6, NOON in Room 12 - bring a simple lunch
North Pacific Yearly Meeting is in the midst of a period of discernment about whether or not the Yearly Meeting should affiliate with Quaker Earthcare Witness. Decisions about affiliation with other organizations are organized in a manner outlined in a document titled "Policy and procedure for affiliation with other organizations". The full document is available on the NPYM website in the section titled "Policies & By-Laws". One part of the discernment process is for the ad-hoc committee on affiliation to gather input from the monthly meetings and worship groups of NPYM as well as from individual Friends. The final decision about affiliation will be made during Annual Session by Friends present then. In this case it is not clear whether or not that will be in 2011.
On March 6th, over a brown-bag lunch at noon, Multnomah Meeting will consider the pros and cons of affiliation with QEW in a discussion led by Annis Bleeke. To assist in the discussion the ad-hoc committee has prepared two documents which are included with this Newsletter. One is a fact sheet titled:"North Pacific Yearly Meeting and Quaker Earthcare Witness". The other includes a set of three queries that we are asked to consider in our discussion.
Set aside the date, read the material, come to learn and discern.
